The Innocence Series: A series of award winning original acrylic paintings dealing with the state of humanity by Michael James Toomy. Breaking down subjects to simple blocks of light and dark, he captures the relationship between memory and the moment, provoking the viewer to feel the piece inside, to provoke an emotion response, to make you think for a moment. His works convey a sense that the subject has a real history, a real place in time and that the image is just a fleeting moment in that subjects life.

"Throwaway" was especially created for the Amnesty International Chapter "The Boston Firefly Project" Expressions of Poverty: A Literary and Arts Event ,Lincoln Institute for Land Policy, Harvard Sq., Cambridge, Ma. The Boston Firefly Project is a local Amnesty International chapter of young professionals that provides opportunities for grassroots human rights advocacy, education and networking through community based events in the Boston area.
